Providing quality healthcare involves more than face-to-face patient care. Medical and health services managers are the essential employees who work behind the scenes to plan, direct, and coordinate the business activities of healthcare providers.

Swedish Institute’s Healthcare Administration (HCA) program is an Associate of Applied Sciences (AAS) degree program offered entirely online. It is designed to prepare students to launch their careers in this growing healthcare field.

Our online degree program provides a foundation in healthcare and business that prepares you to assist hospitals, clinics, and physicians with billing, coding, revenue and insurance management, and entry-level healthcare office administrative functions. Graduates typically work as medical office assistants, billers, and coders in physician offices, billing and coding services companies, outpatient centers, and hospitals. With experience, you may be able to advance to a management role.

Swedish Institute’s Healthcare Administration program will prepare you to handle the responsibilities associated with medical administrative procedures and adhere to the regulatory requirements of the healthcare delivery system.

You will begin with introductory coursework in medical insurance, patient scheduling, medical records management, and revenue cycle management.  You will gain an in-depth knowledge of diagnostic and procedural coding, ICD-10-CM concepts, CPT concepts, and HCPCS concepts.  You will practice financial functions related to patient billing and collections procedures, accounting, scheduling appointments, administrative duties, and customer service.

Our online degree program is available in a 90-quarter-credit course sequence and can be completed in as little as 21 months. All classes are offered online to fit your busy schedule.

With training from Swedish Institute, graduates of this Associate of Applied Sciences degree program are prepared for entry-level employment in a variety of settings, such as:
